- Joyce Higgins (6 June 1908 – 20 March 1989) was the eldest sister of Kathleen Constance Pindar (née Higgins, 27 April 1910 – 3 April 1984), author of the poem "The Staff Basketball Match" featured in this collection. 1
- Kathleen is the younger sister of Joyce Higgins, a Hastings teacher. Joyce’s name appears handwritten on the cover of the Thanksgiving Service programme included in this collection. 1
